Notes of Change is an empowering, community-centered music program designed to bridge the gap in music education access for disadvantaged and underrepresented youth. The program offers underrepresented students ages 10-18 with an interest in music from select public middle and high schools a unique, two-week, no-cost opportunity to participate in an immersive Classical Pop concert experience as supporting performers alongside professional artists and musicians. Non-arts peers ages 15-18 also can join as production assistants to an elite production team gaining firsthand experience behind the scenes. In preparation for the grand live performance, students engage in mentorship workshops and rehearsals with professional artists, musicians, and production staff. Culminating in a live music performance, this hands-on, real-time experience allows students to showcase their talents in a concert hall setting giving them a powerful platform to express themselves before their local peers, families, and community. By collaborating with local arts agencies and community partners, the program also aims to increase community attendance, engagement, and foster local support for arts education. Through shared experiences with mentors, peers, and an engaged audience, Notes of Change celebrates inclusivity and diversity, helping students build self-confidence and a sense of cultural identity and belonging while honing their artistic and leadership skills.
The Notes of Change youth music program is dedicated to empowering underrepresented youth by providing transformative opportunities to perform alongside professional artists, fostering self-confidence, artistic skills, and personal growth. The program emphasizes inclusivity and accessibility, offering volunteer opportunities to ensure all participants, regardless of background, can engage meaningfully, creating a sense of belonging and community. Through this artistic platform, we cultivate youth civic engagement by encouraging cultural expression and amplifying their voices, inspiring them to give back, advocate for their communities, and lead by example. We focus on building lifelong skills, equipping youth with transferable abilities like teamwork, communication, and leadership, which benefit them well beyond the program. Additionally, we motivate students to stay in school and explore careers in music or their chosen fields, celebrating individuality and helping them develop a strong professional identity
