Dear Friends,
The Denise Figueroa Scholarship holds a special place in my heart, as it represents my life’s journey—a journey marked by trials, struggles, and ultimately, triumphs. As a female horn player in a field dominated by strong-built players, I faced countless challenges and obstacles along the way. Yet, it was these very experiences that shaped me into the person I am today.
As a woman and a minority in the music industry, I understand firsthand the unique challenges that young female horn players from minority backgrounds face. That is why the Denise Figueroa Scholarship is more than just a financial award—it is a symbol of empowerment, resilience, and pride.
My hope is that through this scholarship, we can empower and uplift young minority female horn players, providing them with the support and resources they need to achieve their full potential and pursue their dreams.
Join me in this journey of inspiration and achievement!
With profound appreciation,
Ms. Figueroa
